What happens
Queen Sophonisba leads Lord Juss and Lord Brandoch Daha to the Lake of Ravary, revealing the hidden daylight within the mountain and the surrounding peaks. She shows them the distant mountain where Goldry Bluszco is imprisoned. She gives them the hippogriff's egg, which must be hatched by the heat of great longing. Mivarsh steals the egg, hatches it, and attempts to ride the hippogriff, but is thrown and nearly killed. Juss and Brandoch Daha attempt to climb the forbidden mountain and are gravely injured. After months of recovery, a martlet returns to reveal that another hippogriff's egg lies in Demonland, prompting Juss's recovery and their decision to return home.
