What happens
Aramis and Porthos, having captured an officer during the defense of Belle-Isle, learn from him that d'Artagnan has resigned and that the new commander has orders to kill or hang the leaders. The officer reveals himself to be Georges de Biscarrat, son of an old adversary from their musketeer days. As they share wine, a new attack by royal troops is heard, and Aramis, learning of Fouquet's arrest, commands the islanders to lay down their arms to avoid massacre. He then releases Biscarrat, hinting at an escape via the grotto of Locmaria.
