What happens
In Liberty Forest, the rare nun moths lead a precarious existence, kept in check by birds. Grayskin, fleeing the gamekeeper's paddock, accidentally kills an old water-snake, Harmless. Her mate, Helpless, vows revenge and seeks help from the adder Crawlie. After initial refusal, Crawlie agrees to protect the nun moth caterpillars from predators, setting in motion a plan to use the moths as a weapon against the elk.
