What happens
Véronique, bound and blindfolded, believes François has been killed in a duel with Raynold. Vorski taunts her, then learns from Otto that a white figure has been seen on the island. Vorski dismisses the threat, and later the grim procession sets out to carry Véronique to her fate. During the duel, Véronique prays and urges François on, but he is nearly killed; Vorski secretly wounds Raynold to save François, and François strikes Raynold down. Véronique faints, and later Vorski prepares to continue the ascent of Golgotha.
