What happens
Julian 9th meets Juana St. John and learns of the oppressive Kalkar regime. The new commander Or-Tis arrives, searching Julian's home for hidden contraband and threatening the family. He demands Juana work for him, but she defiantly refuses. Julian reflects on the brutality of Kalkar rule and the precarious lives of Earth Men.
