What happens
The General, De Griers, and Mlle. Blanche plead with Alexei to prevent the Grandmother from gambling away her fortune, but she insists on returning to the casino. Alexei, bewildered, observes the conspirators' growing desperation as the Grandmother's reckless behavior threatens their inheritance schemes.
