Cashel Byron fights Paradise, who cheats by tearing off his gloves and attacking with bare knuckles, leading to a chaotic melee. Cetewayo and his chiefs join the fray, causing a general panic. Cashel rescues Lydia and defeats the Zulus, but is bitten by Paradise, causing Lydia to faint.

    Lydia is writing her father's life at Wiltstoken when a policeman arrives investigating a prizefight. Cashel bursts in seeking sanctuary, having just fought Paradise. Lydia hides him from the police. Adelaide Gisborne arrives, revealing herself as Cashel's mother. Cashel surrenders, but Lucian brings an Order in Council granting amnesty and making Cashel Deputy Lieutenant of Dorset, also decreeing his marriage to Lydia. Lord Worthington proposes to Adelaide, who accepts. Cashel pardons all involved and leads the group to St. George's Church for his wedding.
