A Legend explained

What happens
A host in a red dressing-gown, pretending to be inspired, begins improvising a story to the music of a long-haired violinist. A vulgar stranger interrupts and takes over the narration, telling a dark medieval legend about a proud, cruel prince who lives in an impregnable castle on a lake, marries a poor artist's daughter, and becomes increasingly paranoid and violent. When he discovers a young page kneeling before his wife, he executes the page, dismisses his knights, raises the bridge, and locks himself and his wife inside the castle forever, casting the key into the lake. The story ends with the mystery of what happened to the two of them remaining unknown.
