What happens
Alyósha Popóvich, a mighty knight born to the old prebendary Pope León, grows up with superhuman strength and appetite. He and his servant Marýshko Paránov join Prince Vladímir's court. When the monstrous Túgarin Zmyéyevich arrives and insults the prince, Alyósha provokes him. After a brief scuffle in the palace, Túgarin is allowed to leave for a formal duel. The next day, Alyósha prays for rain to dampen Túgarin's wings, then defeats and beheads him in combat, bringing the head back to Vladímir, who initially mistakes him for the enemy.
