The seven young Owls set out on a journey, resting on tree branches and traveling only short distances. One dark night, they hear a mouse but cannot see it because the gas-lamps are unlit. The mouse confirms its presence, and the Owls leap from the tree, unaware of a well below. They fall in and drown within half a minute, ending their story abruptly.
