What happens
Yvonne discovers her father dead at the foot of a staircase in the Lemoines' house, killed in a brawl. Overwhelmed by horror and loneliness, she overhears a conversation between Martin-Roget, Chauvelin, and Paul Friche, realizing she has been used as bait to trap the Scarlet Pimpernel and his men. She hears an English voice outside, then rushes upstairs to look out, only to learn that Friche plans to climb the house to capture the English spies.
