What happens
Ayrton is brought before Lord Glenarvan and questioned about Captain Grant and the Britannia. He remains obstinately silent, refusing to answer any questions. Despite attempts by Lady Helena and Mary Grant to persuade him, Ayrton will not reveal what he knows. The crew is frustrated, and the Duncan sets course for Talcahuana to refuel before returning to Scotland, marking a sad end to the expedition.
