What happens
Mademoiselle Jeanne, fleeing the Royal Palace Hotel after striking a man she identifies as Detective Juve, returns to Etienne Rambert's home. There, she reveals herself to be Charles Rambert in disguise. Etienne Rambert confronts his son about his criminal past and the recent hotel robbery, while Charles insists on his innocence and refuses to continue living as a woman. The chapter ends with Charles leaving, given money and men's clothes by his father.
