What happens
The group continues their arduous journey through the African wilderness. They discover a village of termite mounds, which they use as shelter from a violent storm. Jack wakes up feeling better, and the party resumes its march. They encounter a path littered with human bones and slave fetters, revealing the horrors of the slave trade. Dick decides to follow a stream, hoping it leads to the Atlantic. The storm intensifies, and they spot what appears to be a camp, which Dick reconnoiters alone, only to find it is a collection of anthills.
