Disoriented and in pain, he tries to attract the attention of passing ferries but is repeatedly ignored. As the cold water numbs him, he fights the urge to give in to exhaustion, tormented by the relentless sound of foghorns. A momentary surge of survival instinct drives him to scream and swim toward a boat, but the outcome remains uncertain.
