吴静所

吴静所 (Wu Jingsuo) is a relatively obscure figure in Chinese literary history, primarily recognized as the compiler or author of the late Ming dynasty collection '國色天香' (Guose Tianxiang, or 'The Beauty's Fragrance'). This anthology, which circulated in the Wanli period (1573–1620), contains a mix of short stories, poems, and prose pieces, often with romantic and erotic themes, reflecting the popular tastes of the urban readership of the time. While biographical details about Wu are scarce, his work is significant for its representation of the 'vernacular' and 'literati' fiction that flourished during the Ming dynasty, bridging classical and popular traditions.
