P. T. Barnum

Phineas Taylor Barnum (1810–1891) was an American showman, entrepreneur, and author best known for founding the Barnum & Bailey Circus. His literary output includes the bestselling autobiography "Struggles and Triumphs" (1869), which chronicled his rise from poverty to fame and offered moral lessons on perseverance. "The Art of Money Getting" (1880) distilled his business philosophy into practical advice, while "The Humbugs of the World" (1865) examined deception and credulity in society. Though often remembered for his sensational exhibitions, Barnum's writings were influential in popularizing the American memoir and self-help genres.
