L. M. Montgomery

Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874–1942) was a Canadian author whose novels have captivated readers for over a century. Born in Clifton, Prince Edward Island, she was raised by her grandparents after her mother's death. Montgomery worked as a teacher and journalist before publishing her first novel, Anne of Green Gables (1908), which became an instant success. The book introduced the spirited orphan Anne Shirley and launched a beloved series, including Anne of Avonlea and Anne of the Island. She also wrote the Emily of New Moon trilogy and the standalone novel The Blue Castle. Her works are noted for their vivid depictions of rural life, strong female protagonists, and lyrical prose.
