Holly Jackson was born on 6 December 1992 in Buckinghamshire, England. She wrote her first novel at fifteen and later studied literary linguistics and creative writing at the University of Nottingham, earning a first-class degree and then a master's in English. Her debut novel, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (2019), launched a hugely popular mystery series, followed by sequels Good Girl, Bad Blood (2020) and As Good as Dead (2021), plus a prequel novella, Kill Joy (2021). The series earned numerous accolades, including the British Book Awards Children's Fiction Book of the Year and a shortlisting for the YA Book Prize. Jackson expanded her range with standalone thrillers Five Survive (2022) and The Reappearance of Rachel Price (2024), and in 2025 published her first adult suspense novel, Not Quite Dead Yet. In 2024, The Times named her Britain's bestselling female crime writer. Jackson lives in London with her husband and dog.
