G. E. Moore

George Edward Moore was born in 1873 in London and educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he later became a professor. A central figure in the analytic tradition, Moore is best known for his 1903 masterpiece Principia Ethica, which introduced the "open question argument" and defended ethical non-naturalism. He also made significant contributions to epistemology and metaphysics, notably through his "common sense" philosophy and the famous "here is a hand" argument against skepticism. Moore served as editor of the journal Mind and influenced the Bloomsbury Group. His legacy endures in moral philosophy and the development of analytic thought.
