Fred M. White

Fred M. White (1859–1935) was a British novelist and short story writer who produced a vast body of work across several genres, including crime, mystery, adventure, and science fiction. Born in England, he began his writing career in the late 19th century and became a regular contributor to popular periodicals such as The Strand Magazine and Pearson's Magazine. White is particularly noted for his series featuring detective characters and for his novel "The Midnight Guest" (1904), a classic mystery that showcases his skill in crafting suspenseful plots. He also wrote speculative fiction, including stories about future wars and technological innovations, which anticipated later developments in the genre. Though largely forgotten today, White's prolific output and influence on early 20th-century popular fiction have earned him a place among the notable authors of the Edwardian era.
