F. Marion Crawford

Francis Marion Crawford was born in 1854 in Italy to American parents, and he spent much of his life abroad, studying in Europe and India. He wrote over 40 novels, including the popular historical romance "Mr. Isaacs" and the supernatural classic "The King in Yellow"-influenced "Khaled." Crawford's fiction often explores themes of fate, love, and the clash of cultures, set against richly described backdrops from Constantinople to New England. Though his reputation waned after his death in 1909, he remains a significant figure in the development of the exotic adventure novel and the supernatural genre.
