Constance Holme

Constance Holme (1880–1955) was born in Milnthorpe, Westmorland, and spent most of her life in the Lake District, a region that deeply influenced her writing. She began publishing fiction in the early 20th century, gaining recognition for her keen observation of rural characters and landscapes. Her best-known novel, The Splendid Fairing (1919), exemplifies her subtle, atmospheric style, focusing on the inner lives of ordinary people in a small farming community.
