C. S. Lewis

Clive Staples Lewis (1898–1963) was a British novelist, poet, and literary scholar. Born in Belfast, Ireland, he served in World War I before studying at Oxford University, where he later became a fellow and tutor in English literature. Lewis is best known for his children's fantasy series The Chronicles of Narnia (1950–1956), which blends myth, Christian allegory, and adventure. His other major works include the science fiction Space Trilogy, the satirical The Screwtape Letters, and influential apologetics such as Mere Christianity. A close friend of J. R. R. Tolkien and a member of the Inklings literary group, Lewis also produced significant academic studies, including The Allegory of Love and A Preface to Paradise Lost. His poetry, though less known, reflects his deep engagement with myth and faith. Lewis's works continue to be widely read for their imaginative depth and moral insight.
