Archibald Alexander

Archibald Alexander (1775–1817) was an English poet and Anglican clergyman. Educated at Oxford, he served as a parish priest while writing poetry and devotional prose. His best-known work, A Day at a Time, is a collection of meditations and verses that guide the reader through daily spiritual reflection. Alexander's literary output, though modest in volume, is marked by sincerity and a gentle, introspective tone. His writings were widely circulated in religious circles during the early 19th century and continued to be reprinted for decades.
