  2. Chapter 2

    Floating Men

The narrator, Anthony Rogers, awakens in a strange forest and witnesses a young person in green clothing using an advanced weapon and an anti-gravity belt. After rescuing the injured figure from attackers, he discovers it is a girl named Wilma Deering. She explains the gang-based society of the 25th century and questions him about his origins. He recounts his story of falling into a mine and waking up centuries later, which she ultimately believes.

  3. Chapter 3

    II: The Forest Gangs

Wilma Deering explains the history of the Han conquest, the collapse of America, and the rise of forest gangs. She describes the social and economic system of the gangs, her role in the Wyoming Gang, and the attack by the Bad Bloods. Anthony learns about inertron belts and the ongoing conflict with the Hans.

  4. Chapter 4

    Life in the 25th Century

Anthony Rogers learns to use the inertron belt, meets a fellow guard named Alan, and is brought to the Wyoming camp. He undergoes a skeptical interrogation by the Psycho Boss and History Boss, who eventually accept his story. Big Boss Hart assigns him to Bill Hearn's camp. Over two weeks, Rogers explores the community, observing its rustic yet industrious life, advanced technology like ultron and inertron, and the social structure of the Wyomings.

  5. Chapter 5

    IV: A Han Air Raid

During a discussion about Gerdi Mann's Irish ancestry, the group is interrupted by a Han air raid. Tony devises a novel method to shoot down a Han ship by firing an explosive rocket into its repellor beam, successfully destroying it. He and Wilma escape the valley, rally with the Wyoming Gang, and report to Boss Hart, who plans a return to the valley with a hundred men.

  6. Chapter 6

    Setting the Trap

Boss Hart, Anthony Rogers, and Wilma Deering lead a force of a hundred men to set a trap for the Han airships in the valley where a Han ship had crashed. Rogers devises a strategy to use the Han's own repellor beams against them by shooting rockets into the beams. The group investigates the wreckage, learning about Han physiology and technology, and prepares for battle. Seven Han ships arrive, and Rogers takes command, ordering the men to train their guns on the repellor rays. Wilma searches for the magnetic graph record while they hide in the wreckage.

  7. Chapter 7

    VI: The "Wyoming Massacre"

Anthony Rogers and Wilma Deering execute a daring plan to board a Han ship that has landed to investigate the wreck of the GK-984. After incapacitating the crew member left on board, Rogers signals his men on the hillsides to destroy the repellor rays of the Han squadron. The Han ships crash to earth, and the Wyoming forces achieve a decisive victory. The chapter concludes with the interception of a Han intelligence broadcast reporting the destruction of the squadron and the Han military's decision to adopt a defensive policy.

  8. Chapter 8

    VII: Incredible Treason

After the Wyoming Valley community is reestablished following the Han raid, Tony and Wilma marry and enjoy a honeymoon in the mountains. Upon return, Tony becomes a full member of the Wyoming Gang. Big Boss Hart reveals evidence of a traitor within the American gangs who is leaking information to the Hans piecemeal. Hart is made Superboss of the Mid-Atlantic Zone and plans to organize a permanent field force. Meanwhile, the Hans develop new armor that resists rockets, escalating the conflict. Tony reflects on the social organization of the 25th century and worries about a cyclical decline back to greed and corruption.

  9. Chapter 9

    VIII: The Han City

Tony and his team plan a raid on the Han city of Nu-yok to retrieve traitorous records from the central filing office. Despite initial resistance from Boss Hart, Tony persuades him to allow the mission. Wilma secretly stows away in the swooper, challenging Tony's outdated notions of gender roles. The team descends from a high altitude using inertron belts and ultron wire, landing on the unlit central tower roof to avoid detection.

  10. Chapter 10

IX: The Fight in the Tower

Anthony Rogers and his team infiltrate a Han tower to extract military records. They use gas to incapacitate Han operatives in the library and military office. Wilma Deering and Tony fight and kill several Hans, including a high officer, using their inertron belts for surprise attacks. Wilma faints after the fight. The team escapes by floating up an ultron wire to their ship, with Mort Gibbons skillfully piloting. Once aboard, they discuss the extracted information and consider contacting Boss Hart.

  11. Chapter 11

    X: The Walls of Hell

After discovering the Sinsings are traitors collaborating with the Hans, the narrator orders Mort Gibbons to steer the ship out to sea to avoid detection. They narrowly escape the Han disintegrator-ray wall surrounding Nu-Yok, then engage in a desperate aerial duel with a Han drop ship. Gibbons destroys the enemy vessel with a lucky rocket shot just as its beam damages their rudder, and they manage to return to Boss Hart's camp.

  12. Chapter 12

    XI: The New Boss

Anthony Rogers is unexpectedly made the new Boss of the Wyoming Gang after Boss Hart voluntarily steps down. Rogers then reorganizes the gang's military structure, appointing Ned Garlin as Control Boss and Bill Hearn as Field Boss, and devises a plan to secretly attack the Sinsings instead of the Bad Bloods, using a feigned bombardment and inertron-towed troops to cross Han territory.

  13. Chapter 13

    The Finger of Doom

Anthony Rogers leads a coordinated aerial and ground assault on the Sinsing traitors, deploying intelligence units and a precise explosive barrage to encircle and destroy them.
