Delete your account

You can request that your Betterreads account and associated data be permanently deleted. This includes your profile, reading progress, highlights, notes, and any other data we hold for your account.

If you have a Scholar subscription

Billing for your subscription continues through Apple or Google until you cancel it. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Please cancel your subscription before or shortly after requesting account deletion.

How to request deletion

Send an email from the address linked to your Betterreads account to hello@betterreads.online with the subject “Account deletion request” (or similar). Include any details that help us identify your account (e.g. the email you use to sign in).

We will confirm receipt and process your request. Account and data deletion is usually completed within a reasonable period (for example, 30 days) unless we are required to retain certain data by law. We may contact you if we need to verify your identity.

After deletion

Once your account is deleted, you will not be able to recover your data. If you change your mind, you can create a new account at any time.
