## What happens

André, having left Lecoq's office, is followed by the agent Palot, who is tasked with protecting him from Mascarin's gang. André spots Paul Violaine entering the house of M. Rigal and learns he is to marry Flavia. Seeking shelter from his friend Vignol at a building under construction, André hears a woman's scream and his own name, rushes to the window, and falls sixty feet when the window frame gives way. He is taken to the hospital, where Lecoq, disguised as a student, visits him and assures him that Sabine's marriage has been postponed. Palot investigates the scene and discovers the window frame had been deliberately sabotaged.
