## What happens

Jurgen abides in Leukê with Chloris until the Philistines, led by Queen Dolores, invade and besiege Pseudopolis. The Philistine army, clad in gray and wielding a terrible fire, defeats the forces of King Achilles, who mysteriously vanish. The Philistines burn the city and celebrate their victory. Jurgen refuses Chloris's plea to flee into the Woods, fearing Phobetor's punishment, and Chloris resolves to stay with him, bound to her tree.
