## What happens

Kennedy and Joe hunt a blue antelope in a gum-tree forest, but are alarmed by gunshots from the doctor. They rush back to find the Victoria besieged by a troop of baboons, which they drive off with rifle fire. After a meal of antelope steaks, the balloon continues eastward, passing over Kanyemé and Mabunguru. The travelers spend a quiet night aloft, and the next morning they anchor at Jihoue-la-Mkoa to replenish water supplies.
